A few images from painters

Pauline Devaney

Born 1937 in Stoke on Trent. Nearly forty years in the theatre and television, both as an actress and BBC writer finally led her to painting.
Pauline paints large pictures in oils based on landscapes and cityscapes. Pauline describes her process as “manipulating the pigment until the painting becomes itself”. Pauline joined Josie’s Art group in Sherborne in 2022 and exhibited at the studio during Dorset Art weeks 2024.

Andy Rollo
Andy Rollo's artwork captures the essence of the natural world, beautifully blending vibrant colours with intricate details. In his previous Autumn exhibition with us ‘Time, memory & Light’, visitors were drawn to his compelling woodland landscapes that evoke a sense of serenity and connection to nature. His use of light and texture invites viewers to step into the scenes he creates, making them feel at one with the environment.

James Meiklejohn

Jame’s work incudes portraits, figure paintings and landscapes primarily in Oil. James is know as the painter of Hambledon Hill, an Iron Age Hill Fort in North Dorset in view of his studio. He often paints the hill in context to animals and birds which are often found as road kills or from taxidermied specimens. James works mainly from life to keep his paintings authentic and heartfelt ”The best work is somewhere between what is directly observed and imagination”.
